About Us

The Cottages at Century Woods started as a humble idea for Annie Sumang two years ago while driving the countryside from Houston to College Station. In search of a modest acre or so with a small house for weekend getaways, it quickly became apparent the search was going to be a little more difficult since small acreage did not seem to exist. Then it became almost an impossible task and the one-acre quickly grew to three, five, eight and eventually a little over 16 acres.  The undeveloped wooded property in Somerville, Texas was purchased by SuMac Development, LLC, a company started with long-time friends Mike and Renee McElray, in July 2018 and the dream became a reality in a little over a year.  

The project was developed and lead by Annie Sumang, a second generation Aggie and a graduate of the Texas A&M Department of Architecture. Annie has worked in engineering and construction most of her professional career, specializing in project and construction management for facilities, environmental and civil site access work. She also owns and operates her design firm, Annie Sumang Designs, which specializes in renovations for high-end residential.  

Vision

Nestled in the woods in rural Burleson County, The Cottages at Century Woods is a dream realized for guests to experience the heritage of the area and all that it has to offer.

The cottages pay tribute to the region’s rich heritage and all it takes is a short stay to create the stories that last a lifetime.

Conservancy

When selecting a site for Century Woods, there were several factors that came into play. First and foremost, the property had to be wooded and in its natural state. When developing the cottages, we practiced selective clearing in order to ensure that only the most necessary trees were cleared to protect the natural vegetation and habitats of the native plants and animals.
